Battlefield 6 vs Delta Force: Which should you play?

Everything you need to know to decide.

Battlefield 6 is the next installment in the legendary franchise, and its looking better than ever. The only other game that could scratch that warfare itch so far has been Delta Force, and if you cant decide which one to play, weve got you covered.

While Delta Force has an extraction mode, Operations, the large-scale PvP mode called Warfare is very similar to the Battlefield experience. There are large maps, attack and defend game modes, tanks, classes, and more.

Here are the main differences between Battlefield 6 multiplayer and Delta Force Warfare.

Deciding between Battlefield 6 and Delta Force

Price

One of the main factors in this comparison is the price. Battlefield 6 is a premium title that costs $70 for the Standard Edition. Delta Force is a free-to-play game, and while there are many ways to spend money on cosmetics, none of its elements are pay-to-win.

Map size

The map size was one of the biggest complaints in the Battlefield 6 open beta. Maps (except maybe for Liberation Peak) are too small for coordinated action and often end up feeling like a never-ending deathmatch. Most of the time, you have no time or space to come up with an elaborate plan to outplay the enemy.

In Delta Force, maps are larger, and theres more room to breathe or come up with ways to outplay the opposing team. There are still smaller maps for close-quarters combat, but it feels like theres a better balance between maps of different sizes.

Gameplay

Overall, the gameplay in Delta Force is quicker than in Battlefield 6, and when I mean gameplay, Im talking about things like movement, sprint speed, weapon handling, and so on. Despite tighter maps and constant action, encounters in Battlefield 6 feel slower.

Delta Force features tactical sprint and multiple Operators with movement abilities, like D-Wolfs slide and Vyrons dash, making the game feel like a constant adrenaline surge. This also makes the game feel less tactical and realistic than you might want.

Destruction

Battlefield is known for its destructibility, and smaller maps make up with the ability to destroy almost anything you see using a couple of explosives. Delta Force has some level of destruction, but you need mounted cannons and vehicles to make holes in walls, creating fewer gameplay opportunities and making the experience less epic.

Graphics

Destruction, paired with top-of-the-line graphics, makes Battlefield 6 a truly cinematic experience. This is something Delta Force cant deliver on the same level. The graphics there are still good, but they wont awe you in the same way as Battlefield.

Classes and Operators

One thing to note is that Delta Force is a character-based shooter. There are still classes in the form of Assault, Support, Engineer, and Recon, but its more akin to late Battlefield 2042, where every class consists of multiple Operators with unique abilities, like Lunas recon arrows.

Battlefield 6 features the old-school class system. Every class can use any weapon, but has a signature weapon category with higher draw speed and handling. Apart from signature weapons, every class has exclusive gadgets and perks to give it a unique role in combat, like a UAV for Recon, rockets for Engineer, and supply packs for Support.

Weapon customization

Battlefield 6s weapon customization is restricted with Attachment Points. Every attachment costs a certain number of Points, and you can only have 100 Points worth of attachments on the weapon. It prevents you from going overboard with a weapon, but may also reduce the enjoyment you get from customization.

Delta Force doesnt have such restrictions and has endless attachments for every weapon. That, paired with calibration, makes weapon customization a game of its own, where you can spend hours (optional) fine-tuning your favorite rifle.

Other modes

The last question to answer is what other modes do you want to play? Delta Force has an extraction mode, Operations, which isnt nearly as complicated as Escape from Tarkov (but cheaters are more frequent) and could be a nice distraction if you enjoy a high-risk, high-reward playstyle.

On the other hand, Battlefield 6 has always been about warfare. There are larger modes, including classic Conquest and Breakthrough, and smaller, infantry-only modes, with 16 players. Dont forget that with the full launch, Battlefield 6 also brings the Portala map creator to play custom games using assets from across multiple Battlefield titles.

Which should you play?

Despite similarities, Battlefield 6 and Delta Force are very distinct games. Battlefield 6 is a more grounded warfare experience, but on smaller maps, while Delta Force features Operators with abilities and faster gameplay.

To help you decide whether you should play Delta Force or Battlefield 6, think about the following:

  • Do you want the game to look and feel more realistic/immersive? Thats Battlefield 6.
  • Do you want a cinematic experience with destructible environment? Thats Battlefield 6.
  • Do you want a traditional class system? Thats Battlefield 6.
  • Do you want larger maps with more rooms for plays, flanks, and sniper positions? Thats Delta Force.
  • Do you want to play a character-based game? Thats Delta Force.
  • Do you want in-depth and unrestricted customization? Thats Delta Force.

In the end, you can always try out Delta Force because its free, and then switch to Battlefield if you feel like its not for you.
